Belize has become the first Caribbean destination to allow vaccinated travelers to enter without having to present a negative test, Caribbean Journal has learned.

Instead, vaccinated travelers need to president a Vaccination Record Card dated no less than two weeks before their date of travel.

Non-vaccinated travelers will still have to provide a negative PCR test taken within 96 hours of travel or a negative rapid antigen test taken within 48 hours of travel.

Belize has also launched an expanded testing program to help visitors comply with the CDC’s 72-hour testing window requirement for returning travel.

“The decision to ease the restriction on travelers who have received the COVID vaccine has been facilitated by the reduction in daily new cases across the country,” the Belize Tourism Board said in a statement. “Belize has been very successful in its efforts to control the transmission of COVID-19 over the past few weeks; presently, there are less than 100 active cases countrywide, and the numbers have been consistently decreasing.”

Belize has also received the Safe Travels Stamp from the World Travel and Tourism Council, the first global safety and hygiene stamp for the tourism industry.

Belize first reopened its tourism sector back in October.
